Missouri Armed & Unarmed Security Guard Training & License Requirements

In the state of Missouri, there is no requirements to become an unarmed or armed security guard on the state level. However, there may be requirements to carry a firearm on the city and county levels.

Requirements of Missouri Security Guards / Security Officers:

There are a number of requirements which you need to meet to become an unarmed security guard or security officer:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have no felony convictions or any crime involving the illegal use of weapons

Basic Requirements of Armed Security Guards / Security Officers in Missouri:

There are a number of requirements that you need to meet in order to become an armed security guard:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Be a United States citizen or registered resident alien
  • Successfully pass a background check – this will include drug testing
  • Hold a valid Missouri state driver’s License
  • Have good physical conditioning
  • Have no mental instability
  • Have no drug use or dependency (as mentioned above you will need to have drug tests)
  • No acts of fraud or convictions
