Requirements of Minnesota Security Guards / Security Officers:

There are a number of requirements which you need to meet to become an unarmed security guard or security officer:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • You must be a United States of America citizen or registered resident alien
  • Submit to drug testing (this may be ongoing)
  • Successfully pass a background check

Basic Requirements of Armed Security Guards / Security Officers in Minnesota:

There are a number of requirements that you need to meet in order to become an armed security guard:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Be a United States citizen or registered resident alien
  • Successfully pass a background check (this will include drug testing)
  • Have a valid Minnesota state driver’s License
  • Have good physical conditioning
  • Have no mental instability
  • Have no drug use or dependency
  • Have no acts of fraud or convictions
